Fern Halper of Upside.com has written a great article about the Internet of Things (IoT) and compiled 12 real-world solutions from a number of vendors.
According to Fern, “The Internet of Things — a network of connected devices that can send and receive data over the Internet — is a hot market topic.” The growth of these devices, say analysts, will reach “tens of billions” in the next few years. They’re going to be everywhere you go, everywhere you work, and on everything you wear, and “these devices are generating a lot of data.”
The issue, she states, is “…collecting IoT data by itself is not a path to value. Data must be analyzed and acted upon to drive real benefit.”
